Orders are not open yet, so there is nothing to cancel today — we take no orders, no reservations and no payments. This policy is published in advance and applies in full from the day orders open.
We charge no cancellation fee
There is no cancellation fee — no flat charge, no percentage of the order, no “administration fee” and no handling charge. Some payment providers hand out template terms with a blank for a cancellation fee; ours stays at zero. The only cost you can ever carry for cancelling is the courier charge for sending a sensor back to us, and only in the cases marked below.
Cancelling before we dispatch
Email support@lpg.africa with your order number and the word cancel. If your parcel has not yet been handed to Aramex, we cancel the order and refund everything you paid, including the R89 delivery charge. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.
This is your right under section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act, which lets you cancel any advance order for goods that have not yet been supplied. We dispatch within 1 business day of payment clearing, so please tell us as soon as you know — but if we have already dispatched, the cooling-off route below still gets you your money back.
If you have to cancel because the person the order was for has died or been hospitalised, we will not charge you anything in any circumstances, and we will not ask you for paperwork.
Cancelling after delivery: your 7-day cooling-off right
Because you bought online, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 gives you 7 business days from the day the sensor arrives to cancel the purchase. You do not have to give a reason, and we may not charge you a penalty. This is a statutory right, not a favour, and nothing in our terms can take it away.
- The clock starts on delivery— not when you ordered, and not when we dispatched. The Act says “seven days”; we count them as business days, which is more generous than the strict reading.
- Tell us within the window. Email support@lpg.africa and we will reply with a return address.
- You pay the return courier. That is the only charge the Act permits us to pass on, and it is the only one we do. We deduct nothing else — no restocking fee, no admin fee, no reduction for opened packaging.
- You get everything back, including the R89 you paid for delivery, within 30 days of the date you cancel. In practice we aim for 5 business days from the sensor reaching us.
- Opening the box is fine. You cannot judge a gas gauge without magneting it to a cylinder and looking at the app, so we do not treat a used sensor as a used sensor for this purpose.
Changing your mind after the cooling-off window
On top of the law, we give you 30 days from delivery to change your mind for any reason. Send the sensor back complete and in its original packaging, at your cost, and we refund what you paid for it. This is our own promise rather than a statutory right, so those two conditions apply to it — and to it alone. They do not apply to your cooling-off right, to a faulty sensor, or to anything else the law gives you. See returns & warranty.
Cancelling because the sensor is faulty or not as described
That is not a cancellation, it is a return, and it works differently and better for you: we pay the courier both ways and, for the first 6 months, you choose between a repair, a replacement and a full refund. See returns & warranty and our refund policy.
If we are late
We must fulfil your order within 30 days of receiving it unless we have agreed a longer period with you in advance. If we miss that, you may cancel by giving us 7 days’ notice in writing to support@lpg.africa, under section 46(2) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
We would much rather you never had to use that. If we are running late we will contact you first and offer you the choice: wait, or cancel for an immediate full refund. You do not have to wait out a notice period to take the refund.
If we cancel your order
We may cancel an order — if the sensor turns out to be unavailable, if we cannot verify the payment, or if the delivery address is outside South Africa. If we do:
- We tell you as soon as we know, not when it suits us.
- We refund you in full within 30 days of telling you, as section 46(3) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act requires.
- We will not send you a different product instead, and we will not hold your money against a future delivery unless you specifically ask us to.
Any money we hold before your sensor is dispatched remains your money. We do not treat it as ours to spend, we look after it, and we return it in full if we cannot supply you.
Sales concluded away from this website
Almost everything we sell is bought here, by you, on your own initiative. If we ever conclude a sale with you somewhere else after approaching you directly — over the phone after a launch email, for example — that sale carries a different statutory right: five business days to cancel in writing, under section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act, running from the later of the date we agreed it or the date you received the sensor, with a refund within 15 business days. We mention it so the two are never confused. Orders placed on this website carry the 7-day right described above instead.
If we get it wrong
Email support@lpg.africa and we will fix it. If we do not, you can take it free of charge to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud: 0860 000 272, complaints@cgso.org.za, www.cgso.org.za. See complaints & disputes.
