2. What we sell
We sell one product: the LPG Sense sensor. It magnets to the outside of a standard steel LPG cylinder and reads the gas level through the steel. A free companion app shows the level as a percentage, in kilograms, and as an estimate of days remaining. You need a smartphone with Bluetooth switched on and within range of the sensor to take a reading.
The sensor is a level indicator. It is not a gas leak detector, a gas alarm or a safety device. Its readings are estimates and not certified measurements, and it must not be relied on for safety purposes. The safety and intended use page forms part of these terms.
3. Prices, VAT and currency
The sensor is R799.99. Delivery anywhere in South Africa is a flat R89 by Aramex courier. One sensor delivered is R888.99 in total. There are no handling fees, card fees, surcharges or other costs, and the full price you will pay is shown before you are asked to pay anything.
All prices are in South African rand (ZAR), which is also the transaction currency. The price shown when you place your order is the price for that order.
Where a price is displayed in error, the error will be corrected and affected customers notified of the correct price before the order is acted on.
4. Orders
The LPG Sense sensor is not on sale yet. While we finish secure checkout you cannot place an order, reserve a unit or pay anything through this site, and we ask for no card details anywhere. When orders open, a binding sale will be concluded when we accept your order and take payment; we may decline or cancel an order — for example if stock is unavailable — and will refund you in full if we do.
5. Payment
There is nothing to pay yet. We are not accepting card payments, EFTs, deposits or reservations, and no part of this site asks for card details. When card payments go live they will be handled by a licensed South African payment provider on its own PCI DSS compliant systems, and we will still never see or store your card number.
6. Delivery
We deliver to street addresses within South Africa only, at a flat R89 by Aramex courier. We dispatch within 1 business day of payment clearing, and Aramex then delivers in 1–3 business days to main centres and up to 5 business days to outlying areas. We will email you a tracking number when your parcel leaves us.
Goods remain at our risk until the customer accepts delivery. Orders are fulfilled within 30 days of receiving it unless we have agreed something longer with you; if we miss that, you may cancel by giving us 7days’ notice in writing. Where a delay is anticipated, the customer will be contacted and given the option of waiting or cancelling for a full refund. Full detail is on our delivery policy.
7. Cancelling
Because you are buying online, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you 7 business days from the day the sensor arrives to cancel, without giving a reason and without penalty. The only cost you carry is sending the sensor back to us. We refund everything you paid, including the R89 delivery charge. Before dispatch you can cancel for any reason at no cost at all. See our cancellation policy.
8. Returns, exchanges and refunds
Faulty, unsafe or misdescribed goods come back at our cost, never yours, and for the first 6 months the choice between repair, replacement and refund is yours. Refunds go back to the account or card you paid from. See returns & warranty and our refund policy for how each route works and what it costs.
9. Quality and warranty
Every sensor we sell must be reasonably suitable for what it is meant to do, of good quality, in good working order, free of defects, usable and durable for a reasonable period in normal use, and compliant with the South African standards and approvals that apply to it. Those are your rights under sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, and they apply whether a fault was visible on arrival or only appeared later.
For 6 months after delivery, a sensor that fails those standards goes back at our risk and expense and you choose whether we repair it, replace it or refund you. If we repair it and the same or a new fault appears within 3 months, you may then choose a replacement or a refund. We do not add a longer warranty of our own on top of that, so the statutory 6 months is the whole of it — and section 55 still entitles you to goods that last a reasonable period in normal use.
10. Installation and use
The sensor attaches magnetically to the outside of the cylinder and does not contact the valve, the regulator, the hose or the gas. It does not form part of a gas installation, does not require a registered installer, and does not affect a certificate of conformity. The valve, regulator and hose must not be loosened or adjusted. The sensor must be fitted and used in accordance with the instructions supplied and with the gas supplier’s safety guidance. See safety and intended use.
11. Keeping a record of your order
When you order we email you a confirmation showing your order number, what you bought, the price, the delivery charge, the total and the delivery address. The same record stays available on your order page for at least 12 months. Keep the email — it is your proof of purchase. If you lose both, email support@lpg.africa and we will resend it.
These terms are published at a permanent address and may be printed or saved. The date at the head of the page identifies the current version. Dated copies of earlier versions are retained and are available on request.
12. Your personal information
Personal information is processed in accordance with the privacy policy. Browser storage is described in the cookie notice.
13. Complaints
Email support@lpg.africa with your order number. The Consumer Goods and Services Industry Code of Conduct applies to us, and the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud’s details are on our complaints page.
14. Our responsibility for your order
We take responsibility for every aspect of your transaction: the sale of the goods on this website, customer service and support, resolving disputes, and delivery. The merchant outlet country at the time payment options are presented to you is South Africa, and the transaction currency is South African rand (ZAR).
15. Liability
If the sensor is unsafe, fails, is defective, or comes with inadequate instructions or warnings, and that causes injury, illness, death or damage to property, we are liable for the resulting harm under section 61 of the Consumer Protection Act. That liability does not depend on us having been negligent, we do not ask you to give it up, and nothing on this site limits or excludes it. A claim of that kind must be brought within three years.
We are also liable for damage you suffer if we fail to use a sufficiently secure payment system, and we do not attempt to exclude that either.
Save as set out above, and beyond the refund, replacement and repair remedies provided in these terms, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. The sensor is supplied as a planning aid and not as a safety or measurement instrument.
16. Intellectual property
The LPG Sense name and logo, the app, the sensor design and firmware, and the text, images and code on this site are owned by us or by our licensors. Pages may be read, printed and shared for non-commercial purposes. See the website terms of use.
17. Changes to these terms
These terms may be amended. The version published at the time an order is placed governs that order, and no amendment applies retrospectively to a concluded sale. Dated copies of earlier versions are retained and available on request.
18. Governing law and legal service
These terms, and this website, are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Our address for the service of legal documents is available from info@lpg.africa. Whatever these terms say, the consumer protections in Chapter VII of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act apply to your purchase and cannot be signed away.
19. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms takes away or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Where anything written here conflicts with those Acts, those Acts apply.
